Dynamometer Info \ Disclaimer
Note: - All procedures tests and disclaimers apply to BSMotorsport Ltd .Please read this document carefully and then complete the form and sign the agreement below. No dynamometer tests will be performed without this signed agreement to the terms and conditions.

The undersigned individual or entity (hereinafter referred to as “Customer”), desires to utilize the services of BSMotorsport Ltd; (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Company”) to perform diagnostic and performance testing of Customer’s Engine and various components thereof. Customer understands and agrees that the Company will utilize a Engine dynamometer and various data acquisition devices to perform this testing.

A Engine dynamometer is a device that will be used by the Company to acquire performance data on Customer's engine by engaging and placing load on the Engine Crankshaft while the Engine remains in a stationary position bolted to the dynamometer. Data samples may include, but shall not be limited to, Engine Speed, Horsepower and Torque.

Dynamometers are a valuable tool to compare engine performance. However, an engine is a mechanical device that has a number of factors acting upon it at any given time. We the Company assume no responsibility for the performance or longevity of an engine placed on the dynamometer. An engine can have a mechanical failure whether it is idling or at its maximum rpm as stated below. While we take every precaution to ensure that all factors are consistent with normal conditions during testing, there is no way to prevent or Predict a mechanical failure.

New Engine Break In

New engines can be a very delicate thing. Instead of putting an engine through the stresses and heating cycles of race conditions, we the Company can take your new engine and run it through several heat cycles at a moderate rpm that can be helpful in seating rings, curing sealants, and sealing gaskets. All of which can help improve longevity and performance of Engines. After the break in procedure is complete, you can replace the engine builder-installed or recommended petroleum based break-in oil with the oil or racing oil of your choice all before race day. This ensures that your high build cost engine is not running in race conditions with inferior oil. It is not recommended to break in an engine under a no-load condition (I.E revving it on a stand with no induced load).

Customer Configuration

This service is the current offering in which you control how to get the most from your engine. After a set-up fee, you will be charged hourly or on a daily rate as agreed to use the Dynamometer. An experienced operator will work the controls while you are in attendance. In between runs you will be able to configure your engine however you would like. Printouts and comparisons will allow you to further analyze graphs and figures between tests.

Costs

Initial Set-Up of engine to dynamometer will be charged at the Companies standard Hourly Rate. This includes bolting the engine to the stand, aligning and connecting the drive shaft, connecting the fuel and water system, installing any required data acquisition sensors, connecting RPM pickup lead, connecting the throttle control, connecting exhaust extraction lines, initializing and configuring computer program

Dynamometer test Time: will be charged at the agreed hourly rate or day rate as agreed prior to the test.

This time starts from the time the operator states that the engine is connected and ready for testing. Any additional time from this point will be charged to the customer whether testing is in progress or not. There is no fee for amount of Dynamometer pulls per hour. Keep in mind however that each pull is still considered “time on the engine” in terms of its overall life span so make changes intelligently so as to not waste the life of the motor. The time stops when the customer informs the operator that testing is complete. The engine will be disconnected from the stand with the operator assuming any liability for worn or damaged parts of the Dynamometer.

Parts: As determined

It is hard to be prepared for everything. If a situation should arise where you need a carburetor gasket, spark plug, or some anonymous bolt we will do everything we can to help keep you going. Charges for these items will be determined by the operator and are not negotiable. They will however, be close to dealer pricing with consideration taken for our handling and convenience of availability.

What you are NOT charged for:

Should there be a technical failure with the computer program, sensors, or the Dynamometer itself the customer will not be charged for the time taken by the operator to repair the problem. If a catastrophic failure of some kind occurs, it will be of the operator’s judgment as to the reduction of the final charges. There will be NO haggling or negotiation as to what the costs are on the part of the customer. We strive to be an upstanding and friendly business. We will treat our customers fairly and expect the same in return. Customer recognizes and acknowledges that modifications to their engine, and/or other components within the engine being a replacement of OEM parts may place additional stress upon the engine that are not intended in the manufacturer’s engineering design.

Pre Test Conditions: The customer must make sure the engine is in a fit state to be dynamometer tested: - all components within the engine should be in good condition and correctly installed, the cooling system must be free from defects and functioning correctly, the exhaust must be gastight as we need to take samples from the tail pipe and leaks will dilute these readings.

Full Dynamometer Test Interpretation: Carry out a full throttle power test to determine BHP and Torque calculated flywheel figures, at the same time where possible the company will monitor boost and fuelling using exhaust gas analyzer and or wideband lambda sensor.

Customer recognizes and acknowledges that performing diagnostic and performance testing of the engine utilizing a engine dynamometer entails certain peril and risk to the engine and its components. Such risks include, but are not limited to damaging internal engine components such as valves, pistons, connecting rods. Customer acknowledges awareness of the aforementioned risks, the possibility that diagnostic and performance testing of this type could result in catastrophic damage to Customer engine.

DISCLAIMER: During customer configurations the dynamometer operator will NOT be required to offer suggestions or advice to you about your engine. Any advice given will be strictly suggestion, opinion, and anecdotes. We will do our best to ensure that each test condition will be similar with regard to rpm and temperatures but constant variables may prevent this from being exact.

Engine Maximization:

This will be offered in the future once customer feedback and experience is built.

The Dynamometer operator is not responsible for any customer owned parts damaged or worn during the setup, testing or disassembly process.

Safety: The customer must conform to the safety instructions given by Company personnel in charge of the testing, particularly regarding safe distances and noise protection , please observe safety notices and no entry signs. Failure to adhere to safety instructions will result in immediate cessation of any testing until the testing area has been made safe.
